Solociting a 1 year service contract thru false statements

I just purchased a new desk top computer and a window kept popping up asking for a Product Code. Not knowing what the reason was, and attempting to satisfy the pop up, I kept entering the only Prod Code that I knew which is on the computer tower. This was repeatedly rejected. Thru Google, On Feb 18, I searched Microsoft help and selected the search item titled: "Windows Help & How-to-Microsoft Windows. (Innocent me;I'm 82 years old). That led me to the Windows web site and Saljin identified under Business Information. He asked to log onto a chat connection to my computer so that he could remotely control and search my computers contents, with digital code 887530. He was of no help with the Prod. Code. But within a few minutes he said that I had serious problems with my computer and within weeks it would shut down completely. He stated their were 146 infected files. Two of his typed entries were, Prefetch and Regedit. He was very persistent in his attempt to get me to pay some $150 for a 1 year service contract which would go over $200 later on if not accepting now. I would not agree and when he asked for my credit card No. I told him NO and was terminating our conversation. I contacted Defender Pro LLC who has the virus etc protection on my computer. They had me download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.44 software which was then used to scan my computer on 2/19 for infected components. This took 1 hour and 22 minutes and identified 1 infected Registry Data item and 10 infected files; total objects scanned was 520496. All infected items were quarantined and deleted. I was given the telephone No - 800-237-3901 for future contact with him. Thankfully I am slightly proficient in the subject area. My sympathy goes to the people that succumb to the high pressure tactic.
