Order # 2001950 4l80e transmission. May Pocono Property Mgt. Agreed to buy a transmission from russ of National search parts.com Here is how this went.
We contacted russ to buy a transmission for a 94 Chevy 3500 17,000 gvw cab and chassis. 1gbjc34k2re135901. Russ said he had one and told me it was a 100% exact replacement. He was informed that this truck was completly stock and this trans must be able to go right in in one day, this truck works everyday. This russ guy (i doubt its his real name) assured me he test drove the truck and the trans was 100% perfect fit.
Trans arrived about a week later, a coat hanger holding the converter in place and this thing was filthy dirty, slimy. There was no paper work shipped with the product no receipt no warrenty nothing. The truck makes its way to the trans shop.
The origanl comes out and here we go. The transmission russ sold us was for a 95 gmc 3500 van rated at 10,000 gvw and the two trans are the same only by the housing. My truck has multi clutch packs, russ has one. Mine has rough cut gears, who knows what his had. Differnt wire harness, differnt linkage. No where near the same.
I called rus and after I talked his first words to me where "The transmission is not returnable." I said "It aint the right one!" He was nasty from this point on. He then said "I'll return it for 25% restocking fee and shipping both ways." so here's the numbers $200. Each shipping and $240. Restock = $640. And we paid russ $960. So thats to a return of $320. For russ's lake of knowlage. So with the numbers in my mind I called the trans shop and they said with a new harness and linkage they can make this trans work. (the orginal trans is out and the truck is on the lift, if the truck heads outside its $25 a day storage, plus the lost work.) To do this it's $400. So then russ's plan is to "rape" the parts out of my orginal trans and ther should be no charge to put them in. When I got this russ on the phone I stated "I was to get an apple for apple part and taking parts of of my org. Was not happing. "Then I get "The trans is fifteen years old, what do you except." After some nasty fights over the phone, russ agreed to pay us two hundred of the four. He said the check would go out in the mail on 6/26/09. TO THIS DAY 2/17/10 THE CHECK HAS NOT ARRIVED.
After that I gave the OK to do the work, russ's trans was opened and it was learned that the filter was removed and the pan and other exposed areas where polished clean. (the filter and corners of the pan would give a look into the trans history.) Remember the trans was filthy on the top side, so someone went to the trouble to hide something. Friday 6/26/09. The truck is picked up and the trans made it 34 miles and thats it. Monday 9.00 am. The run around starts, russ wont answer the phone, so I tricked him he thought he was getting another sale, a sucker on the phone, but it was just me. He said "A guy named walt, would call me right back.By Wed. That call had yet to happen. So by noon I had plans to have my original transmission rebuilt and reinstalled. I would use a different shop for this. At this time I was wise to russ and walt (I found out about them online, I WISH I KNEW BEFORE.) By using another shop they couldn't cry foul.
When we picked up the truck we where treated to a look at russ's trans. Fluild badly burnt and the filter packed with clutch material. Dryrotted clutch was the reason for faluire and there is a term for this it's called "sitting". Russ's trans had been on a shelf for years. Thats why the truck just ground it up.
The following week we tried to reach russ to get a return slip. No calls where returned. The next week i got him on the phone. And i told him i found out where the trans came from and they agreed the trans had sat for years and it was wrong for that application. I also told him that they told me they sent him the $200. For the retrofit. He said i had to ship the trans back and have it looked and then he would determine if there would be a refund. Now in my mind i didnt think that was a good idea and heres why $960. For trans, $400. For modifications, and $550. Dis & reinstall. For russ's trans that's $1,910. Of my money. I said I want this thing to go local shop of russ's chosing and be tron down. Russ refused. I said I'll drive it five hours to where it came from and watch it be torn down. Russ refused. He hung the phone up after that and i have never heard from him ever. We tried for a long time the get a return tag to no avail. My wife, twenty days later got someone to agree to send a carrier, search parts never even told the carrier where it was going we supplied the info for them.
After 35 days I called search parts and got no replies to voice mails, one day a lady said a refund was being processed, but week later she denied it.
Around late Sept I called and spoke to a tj and he said they just added a credit to my card. $200 he said. When I asked him witch card, there was dead quiet, He was caught in a huge lie. You have no credit card info on me, we payed by wire transfer. He hung up the phone. I have called and left voice after voice and have never had on call returned.
In the end here it is this company is a joke, anyone who calls each other doctors. About auto parts? There incompetent salesmen who lie one everything. You see they get paid on comission only, what do you think there going to do to get a sale. There's no paper trial, I have no paperwork. Walt is the worst of the worst he thinks he a big cheese, hell Ronald wouldn't let him be Mayor McCheese. Maybe the guy who says "Hi" at WallMart. Look they got me, but it's money from my business it's peanuts to the big picture. Don't get burned by these squids, deal with local people that you can walk right in there place of work, and speak your mind. Don't buy used auto parts off the internet. You'll have no recourse. But if you want to have fun and you have some free time use there 800# call them up and ask them to find say a 5.0 chevy and string them along for an hour asking q's. They dont get paid, and i have fun doing so you should to. They can't ride the tiger for verylong, there track record is closing in on them READ RIP OFF REPORT 515250 there M.O. Is the same.
