ICS, RR Donelley Horrible employer, Terrible Business, and awful Managers!

Ok, where do I start... I worked for ICS for two years. I was very diligent, hard working, and very reliable. The money was ok, until they started charging me for fuel, scanner fees, etc. There is so much wrong with the company. They need to be investigated by the IRS. They clam that the employees are actually employees, but instead "independent contractors"... This is B.S.

First of all working for ICS, when getting my pay check I noticed there was a fuel "surcharge" deduction from my weekly pay check. They dont pay for our fuel to make deliveries, the drivers use their own money to buy the fuel. However I confronted one of the managers about my concern. I explained to him why are we getting charged for fuel when we still have to pay for it? He then responded with irratation "thats just the way it is!". So not only do they keep some money from each driver claiming its "fuel surcharge", but also from "scanner fees". Basically they let us use a scanner to complete our work, and at the end of the route, we turn them back in. And of course they charge us around $80.00 a week to have them!!!

As I researched what an "independant contrator" is, I came accross the official IRS government website. It clearly explains: The general rule is that an individual is an independant contractor if you, the person for whom the services are performed, have THE RIGHT TO CONTROL OR DIRECT ONLY THE RESULT OF THE WORK NOT THE MEANS AND METHODS OF ACCOMPLISHING THE RESULTS. ICS is clearly breaking the law!!! I was (defined from irs. Gov) an employee, not a contractor!

So what does that mean... RR Donelley is a CRIMINAL, and all of his Managers for ICS are his goons!!! They are not paying taxes on their "employees", instead we do...

Recap: 1) drivers have to buy uniforms 2) Drivers are fined for "mis scans" 3) drivers are charged for fuel that they dont use 4) drivers are charged for scanners 5) We use our own automobiles and maintance is ours too 6) we are considered to be independant contractors, yet we are actual employees (to avoid paying more in taxes) 7) and last but not least: They will threaten to give your route to someone else if you dont obey... Sounds like an employeer to me
