In the beginning of September I signed a contract with Scarsdale Homes, Inc. To build my home. The contract states that the earliest completion date is April and the latest completion date is September. The construction was never started at all. One full year has already passed.
The developer, Mr. Morelli, promised me to start construction "next week", "next month", "you are next" every time I called.in the beginning of August Mr. Morelli informed me that no foundation would be poured until two other foundations were ready for pouring, and neither of those properties is currently under contract (both clients cancelled).
My attorney sent him a letter on August 18th asking to return the earnest money (about $12000). Now Mr. Morelli gives me a run around between himself and another co-president Mr. Edward Covici. I do not know when I will get my money back.
There is already a complaint about Scarsdale Homes, Inc. On this site posted on 8/25 by Mark from Wheeling, Illinois starting with: "Scarsdale Homes rip-off Dishonest, Uncaring, Cheap, Will build your house in 2 years, says 'sue me' You do not want this headache. It is like dealing with the devil himself."
I agree with everything Mark sad. I think he is talking about the same Pine Hill Lakes subdivision. I suspect that there are several clients who are trying to terminate their contracts with Scarsdale Homes. I assume they have the same problem getting their deposits back. I would like to combine our efforts by sharing attorney fees.
