In October I was contacted and promised by an affiliate of Home Rescure Programs (HRP) that they could modify the terms of my loan to a fixed rate, convential loan by working with my lender. I was told that HRP had a 99% success rate with loan modifications and that HRP was rated an "A" or "B" by BBB.
I really signed on because of their money back garantee stating that I would get my money back if they failed to get my loan modified.
Their affiliate came by my house and collected $2500.00 of my hard earned cash that I had to take out of my 401K.
The next couple of weeks, I worked with an HRP negotiator who collected tons of financial documents and information about me. I spent lots of time sorting and gathering the documents, then I had to scan, fax, and email it all to him in a very short amount of time. What a waste of my time!
I called my lender to see if they received my paperwork and documents from HRP for a loan modificaiton. My lender did not. This got me worried.
A few weeks later after I did not hear from HRP or thier affiliate, the affiliate finally called me after I was trying to get a hold of him. He told me that HRP went bankrupt!
Bottomline: never give up front money to anyone who promises to help you with loan modification. Home Rescue Programs is a scam and cheat. They should be prosecuted by the federal and/or state authorities.
