We have been owners of a Marina El Cid timeshare since 1998. We had found the 1 week that we had bought was not tradable as we had been told but we thought it was more of an issue with Interval Internationl not the El Cid resort.in Jan went to another presentation with Ernesto Nunez Virgen. We went thru the whole process and kept insisting that we were not interested in upgrading as we had found other travel arrangements much more flexible and too our liking. We own a travel agency and advised him that we could travel for much less money and have much more flexiblity. He advised that if we upraded to the 90,000 points we would have full membership with RCI and would have full access to all their resorts just by paying the exchange fee and his most glorious promise was that as travel agents we would be able to book any number of weeks for free under a special promotion for agents so we could send down clients so they would have a chance to experience the Marina El Cid. As it turned out we did not get the travel agents package (it never arrived and on repeated calls we discovered that there was really no such thing.) It turns out that if we send someone down on a referral basis they will pay a reduced rate if they purchases a time share. As for the RCI membership, in which we completed the application, we have still not received the membership after repeated calls and two years of waiting.in our documentation is states that we will be enrolled in RCI but to this date it has not happened. Fortunately we did not pay cloose to the asking price for our time share so we do not have as much invested as some owners but I want others to avoid this place at all costs. I plan on spending a couple of mornings at the front of the time share office handing out some letters of warning to every unsupecting time share prospect that they drag in there. It will be my own little form of penance for being such a sucker!!!
