About a week ago I went out to the Macy's at Northwest Plaza as they had adverstised that they were closing the store and having a huge "storewide" sale to liquidate all merchandise left in the store.
I went to purchase a pair of shorts I had seen just before they announced they were going out of business. The shorts had been $10.00. Then when I went to purchase them, they had been marked up to $40.00! With a 30% discount they were now marked up to $28.00! That's a ripoff. And, even though there were signs throughout the store that said storewide sale 30-50% off, that did not include eveything in the store. I particularyy went to purchase kitchen towels and makeup, neither of which was included in the "storewide" sale.
Additionally, I took note of a sweater I had purchased at another Macy's right after Christmas which was now selling for $17.00 (with 30$ off), but I got it for $10.00 before the "storewide" sale began.
It was obvious that this sale was not as advertised at all. The storewide sale was vey deceptive and the fact that they marked things up and then reduced them by 30% was wrong. I will never shop at a Macy's again.
