When I frist decided to go to the High-Tech of Phoenix, I spoke with a student advisor and she had faxed me an application for the school. She wanted to enroll me in the classes that were due to begin in two weeks. I filled out all the appropriate information and before I signed it and faxed it back to her I called her and asked her if by signing the application was I signing my life away. She stated No, it was just an application to see if I could even qualify for the school. That was the only paper work I ever filled out, well besides my FASFA which I never head anything about. I never singed a contract with The High-Tech of Phoenix, and I could never get my pin number to work for the FASFA. Never received help on that issue.
Whenever I had a question when i came to my starting my classes I could NEVER get in touch with anyone. When I finally got in touch with someone maybe two weeks into the school I found out that my student advisor no longer worked for the school. That was the last time I ever talked to anyone there. My phone calls were never answered and or never returned. Not only did she "no longer work there" High-Tech of Phoenix changed its name to Anthem College. Why? Why all the changes and NO ANSWERS?
Soon after calling on a daily basis and never getting anyone, I pretty much gave up trying to get ahold of someone from High Tech of Phoenix. I received a call from Sally Mae, who was my finance company. I spoke with a lady who had asked my why I needed some sort of loan. I told her I knew nothing about this loan. I had never even heard of it before. She then informed me informed me that the High Tech of Phoenix kept requestiong to have money sent to them for me. Not once did anyone from the college try to contact me to tell me they need this loan or that loan. I had no idea what was going on, because NO ONE would return my calls. I then asked the lady from Sally Mae if I owned them any money and she told me no. Then asked me if I would approve them sending the money to High-Tech of Phoenix. I told her absolutely not! Do not send them any money what so ever regarding my loans or whatever.
After I got off the phone with here I again called "Anthem College." I actually got a hold of someone in the billing department and they couldn't answer my questions. It was a three ring circus with these peaople. Still NONE of my questions were answered. I soon got tired of never being able to contact anyone or to get any hlep that I quit. I called and dropped out in Fed 07 after 2 1/2 months of putting up with this SO CALLED COLLEGE's B.S. After all that I never even thought of Anthem College/High-Tech of Phoenix or whatever they are calling themselves these days.
In May 07, I had my first child. I JUST got home from the hospital and that day I reveived a call. It was from some collection agenc. He was the rudest person I've ever met. He was DEMANDING I pay Anthem College $10,809. I was so shocked. I hadn't heard anything out of these people before. I never received a bill. Nothing. So I asked him for what did I owe such a large amount. He tells me he cannot tell me that over the phone. I just started laughing and I said okay so you expect me to write you a check for almost $11,000 no questions asked. You must be out of your mind. He then got super rude with me. I then told him, I just got out of the hospital from having a baby and I would deal with this later. He then said "oh, yeah like it's so hard being a mom." I flew off the handle. I told him never to call me again, but you know how them leeches are, and he continued to call me daily. Getting nastier and nastier ever phone call. I then started to ask for an itemized bill. I was told that they couldn't give me one. So I was just suppose to fork over that much money. No one in their right mind would pay that much and not ask questions. My whole total for two years was suppose to be 24,000. How does 2 1/2 months of not learning crap turn into almost $11,000?
It got to the point where they could call me two/three times a day. I soon changed my phone number. I finally got their so called itemized bill. It stated Anthem College-total due $10,809. BUT WHY break it down. The moment I recieved it i called the college. I cannot stress enough that I NEVER EVER SIGNED A CONTRACT with these people. NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!
In TWO YEARS after all this happens, i checked my credit for my taxes and what do you know a big whopping $10,809 was on there. I called and I called and I called not once did I get any resonable answer.
In 2009 not once did I hear anything about Anthem College. Then in 2010 I get another statement from A DIFFERENT collection agency. I called them and I get a recording that states the same thing over and over and over and over again. No representative ever gets on the line. I waited over an hour listening to the same message that someone would be with me shortly. How many years later and I still have NO IDEA why I owe this ridiculous amount of money.
ANTHEM COLLEGE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!! They are nothing but liars, cheat, frauds, scammers. I am a 21 year old single mom doing this all on my own. It's sad to think that the reason MOST kids never go to college anymore is because they are being taken advantage of by these stupid schools. I for one will not go back to another College due to this. It's screwing up my life, my finances, everything. It's a complete crock of sh*!!
