There was an add on craigslist for a 2004 Honda VTX 1300 for $2900. Iknew it seemed too good to be true, but I thought I'd look into it. With the economy being the way it is and considering that the bike wassupposedly located in an economically depressed area, I was reallyhoping that someone was just hard up for cash and the deal was legit. So I sent an email and this is the reply I got:

This bike is a real 'head turner' and it will make you proud, it isin excellent condition, never been involved in accidents, 1300cc, only4,500 miles, VIN: 1HFSC55094A004432 clean and clear title, no mechanicalproblems, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, all functional and itwill need nothing in the near future.
I have the bike sealed at DAS terminal in Whittier, CA ready to beshipped out will take 4-5 days through DAS and it will be free, myprevious buyer (his loan did not get approved) already paid for it andDAS didn't want to refund him the shipping fee.
I cannot meet face2face I have a new job in Tucson, AZ I wouldlike to use Autotrader Vehicle Purchase to take care of this deal, smooth and safe. Let me know if you have any other questions, hope ididn't miss anything.

At this point I knew it was bogus, so I did a little research andapparently this scam has been going on for some months now and has beenlisted all over the country. The bike, pictures, and email responsesare all the same, but the name and email address changes every time.
