Mr. Tire & Monroe Muffler Brake
Monro Tire Sabotaged by brakes by completely draining them then tries to sell me "discount" brake job!

On Saturday 01/23/10 at 10:00 AM, I took my Plymouth Voyager to Mr. Tire to buy new tires. My sole purpose of the visit was to to buy tires; there was nothing at all wrong with my brakes. The gentlemen did not speak to me at all during the procedure, other than to ask if I wanted the white walls facing in or out. While I was paying my bill and ready to leave, the sales clerk told me that I had a leak in my brakes that would cost $399.99 to fix, but he would cut me a deal for $60 off if I bought the repair within the next 30 days. As I mentioned before, nothing was wrong with my brakes when I arrived at Mr. Tire. I have never had any problems with the brakes on the van, so I passed on the offer, said thanks, and left.
When my husband and I got into the van to leave, the brake pedal went completely to the floor, and the brake light light would not go off. Nothing like this has ever happened the entire time we've owned the van. We assumed it would get back to normal as we drove, but were we ever wrong! The brakes were completely gone! We had to blow right through two red lights on Pulaski Hwy because the brakes were nonexistent. Let me reiterate, my brakes have never had any problems until Mr. Tire got their hands on my van.
My husband called Mr. Tire to inform them of the problem. The clerk who answered said, "Well we told you... You can bring it back here and we'll look at it... We'll still give you the $60 discount for fixing them." Is he out of his mind!?! I called the corporate customer service number. The girl who answered said, " We don't touch the brakes when we replace tires... We can't do anything about that... If you're afraid to drive you can have the van towed back to Mr. Tire at your expense." Again, is she out of her mind as well!!? Obviously someone at Mr. Tire did something to my brakes, because they were perfectly fine before arriving there, and now they were completely useless.
Eventually, we were able to get the van to stop. We went into the nearest store we could find to buy some brake fluid, wondering if that might help this dangerous situation. When we opened up the brake reservoir, it was completely empty! This reservoir has never been empty, or even low, the entire time we have owned this van, but now it's completely empty!?!? When we filled the reservoir with fluid, the brakes slowly built up to normal. We have not had any leaks or problems with the brakes since.
It is blatantly obvious that Mr Tire of Aberdeen deliberately sabotaged my brakes by completely draining out all the fluid, just to make a quick buck. I am absolutely livid that Mr. Tire put our lives and safety in such jeopardy just to try to squeeze another four hundred bucks out of us.
