We purchased our 40" LCD Samsung tv in October for approximately $1700 at Circuit City in Deptford, NJ. Several months ago our tv started having issues turning on. When you turn on the tv it keeps clicking on and off for several minutes until it finally comes on. But when it comes on it has color distortions and lines throughout the screen. You then have to manually turn the tv on and off several more times until finally the lines are all gone. We thought that this was maybe a cable issue so we called Comcast. They came out and gave us a new cable box and checked our wiring. After seeing the cable was not the problem we called Samsung. Samsung pretty much told us to go scratch because our warranty had expired. Now I understand electronic issues come up but to have paid $1700 for a tv and only after two years to have such a major problem, that is ridiculous! My husband asked the Samsung rep if there were any other problems like this reported to them by other customers. The rep stated "no we have nothing on record about this". The Samsung rep said they would have a technician call us. The tech called us to say that it will cost us $150.00 just to come out and take a look at it. We obviously declined. If its going to cost that much just to come out I'm guessing the cost to fix the problem is going to be outrageous. We then took our search to the internet only to find out that thousands of other Samsung customers are reporting the same exact problem. That's strange, Samsung said they never heard of this problem! I find that hard to believe. We have contacted a lawyer who is looking into this as a class action lawsuit. We are also going to proceed in filing complaints wherever we can to get some resolution to this problem.
