I moved into the Meadow Lane Apts July 1st, main reason being that the price worked for my budget. From the beginning when I moved in, they never gave me a walk-through checklist to note anything that needed to be repaired.

I wrote them a letter and requested the checklist as well as listed things that were wrong with the apt. (i.E. Missing vertical blinds, patio paint bubbled up and faded, front door was very difficult to open-it would stick, hot water never got really hot, doorbell didn't work, porch light was burnt out)

Months went by and they never responded, not even to my question about me not receiving any receipts for my rent payments that I mailed in every month. Eventually I went to doctor sick and it turned out I had, and still have, bronchitis... After further checking I found that the air conditioner was leaking for who knows how long and there was black mold developing in the apartment. The doctor believes my bronchitis is due to that mold and the leak that this property mgmt co never repaired, along with all the other things that they never addressed.

In July of I wrote another letter asking about the rental rate if the lease was renewed. I actually got a phone call back on that one. I spoke to a lady about going month to month for another 60 days and was promised that the list of issues would be taken care of. Nothing happened.

The last letter I wrote was in September, I let them know that if they did not repair the items on the list by the end of September I would not be renewing the lease. They never responded and they never repaired anything. I moved out on October 1st.

Now, I just received a letter from them about 2 wks ago, just after the New Year. It was dated December 10th. And now they are trying to say that I owe them rent for those months and attached a ridiculous Late Fee Schedule that goes up to $305 per month, plus a $50 fee if they 'have to' give me a '3-day Notice'.

This only proves their ineptness; they are unable to properly manage a property, take care of tenant needs and now they can't even follow up and keep their financial records straight. This is pathetic and I feel that I do not owe them any money. They kept my security deposit anyway... So what more do they want? Losers.
