NEVER use this company! - Fraud / Bait and Switch

Direct TV has some of the WORST service you will ever find from a company. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! I really can't stress this enough.

I am fortunate enough to not have made the decision to use them. However, I know people who have (Boss & Boyfriend to start.) EVERYONE I know who has had this service has had trouble with their bill. The most common problem I have seen with this company and it's service is with their billing. The only reason I have had to deal with them is because of my job and my guy. Each time is infuriating! Besides each customer service rep passing me off to another rep, they will also have you hang up and call several different numbers. Explaining to customer service that you JUST CALLED the number they are trying to get you to call wont help either. Nobody there cares. That's where it starts.

Then the billing issues begin. And you had better believe they will make you want to drive your head into a wall.

Signing up for special deals will not help. They will still bill you for the full amount. When you call them about it they will make it seem like it's something you did incorrectly in the sign up. KEEP ALL DOCUMENTATION FROM THEM! Even though it will help your case, it will not save you. But at least you will have something on your side. When they overcharge you and you prove to them that they have, they tell you they will credit your account.in the meantime, if you pay the amount you are supposed to pay instead of the amount you were billed (overcharged) then you will get a late notice. Expect for this to not be resolved any time soon.

In the case of my boss, he signed up for normal residential service. (And this was through a company he works for that SELLS Direct TV - even HE was screwed.) When we moved just a few feet down the road to a location that the city has zoned as residential, Direct TV informed us that we needed to switch to Commercial service. When I told them we have residential service, the location is listed as residential BY THE CITY, (we have documentation) and only one person would be watching the television in his PRIVATE bedroom, we were told that it did not matter. Direct TV says we are commercial, so we need to disconnect our residential service, (a new fee) and re-connect as Business Service. (Another new fee - AND new contract with new start date.) Awesome. Just what we want from a company that screws us over and robs from us. A longer commitment.

As I said earlier, he purchased this service through a company that sells Direct TV. Direct TV gives its okay to sell the service, but when an issue arose they threw the company under the bus. Basically saying it was disreputable and that they would not stand behind anything the reps did.in the meantime they are fine with continuing to sell their packages through this company (if they are so bad, why use them?) and then telling the customers they have to change the packages once installed because they were sold incorrectly. Pretty convenient for Direct TV.in our case it meant switching packages for a larger amount of money. Smacks of bait and switch to me.

I could go on and on, but instead I will share a clip from an article in the Sept 18th LA Times: DirecTV Faces Lawsuit Over Fees:
DirecTV Group, Inc. Was sued by customers alleging the company collected early termination fees without their knowledge or a valid contract explaining the charges...
The suit, which seeks class-action status, alleges DirecTV improperly collected the fees when customers canceled their service, in violation of California law. It seeks a refund of the fees and changes to DirecTV's termination policy.

Why am I not surprised?
