Hello... After receiving a letter stating that i had written a bad check to "walgreens" on may 3. Reference # 2096472. I immediately called cps and disputed the debt. Whom ever i talked with, was not only rude but told me that if the full amount was not submitted ny fridat, oct. 23, it would be turned over to the local authorities in my county. "no exceptions!".in the meanwhile, i contacted my bank and they have no transactions in my account history for that particular check number (#1566).in the letter i received, it said that the check had been returned as "account closed". My account has never been closed! He told me that cps had sent numerous letters, which is not true. This is the first one i have received. He also told me that "walgreens and my bank had tried to contact which is also not true! I have overdraft protection with my bank and they always pay my checks. This morning, i spoke the alabama state's attorney's office and the law states: you have 30 days from the date on the letter to straighten this out. The date on the letter i received is dated, oct. 1. My attorney is now investigating this company and matter. I have also filed a report with the "bbb". I am not remitting anything until this matter of pure and simple fraud is resolved. The rude person i spoke with on the phone denied my request to view the check or give me any other information. My name is not "peggy m " and my checks are printed "peggy r". I am in good standing with not only "walgreens", but my bank as well. I completely dispute this and will do what ever is necessary to see that this rip-off company is investigated and shut down according to the laws of texas. I fully expect a response immediately. If not, i will take further steps.
