A young woman came to our door the other day and my 25 year old son answered the door. She stated that she was trying to earn a trip to Mexico and was selling magazine subscriptions. He fell for it and ordered a magazine. A couple of days later we noticed that he had our address wrong.
I looked for a phone # on the receipt to call a give them the correct address and there wasn't a phone #. I got on the internet and looked them up and realized it was a Rip-Off. I had him immediately call his bank to stop payment on his check of $35.97. His bank said it would cost $36.00 to stop payment and they then asked Why. He said it was a scam and they said then it will not cost anything, considered a Stolen Check.
We learned if anyone comes to the your door selling anything get the name of the company and asked them to come back later. Then go straight to the Internet and check them out and I bet they wont be back...
