Palmetto Marketing, Inc. Came to my door tonight. A young man who was too happy to go to Cancun and bragged that he was finally getting more than the girls. Well... He seemed nice enough, and I was quite tired of seeing these kids come to my door asking to go on a trip.
So, I fell for it and gave him $40 for a subscription to Cosmo that only cost $18 for a years subscription through the magazine. I stated that I could get it for a third the price and faster—but he replied, "Well, I get to go to Cancun!" Big deal—I don't was my reply.
After he left, my senses told me that it was all too wrong. I pulled up the internet site, and LOW AND BEHOLD, the BBB report and this scam alert made me pick up my cell phone and call my bank. My stop payment will prevent me from having to worry about this scam being successful. I don't have to worry about some "non-existent" company not returning my calls or about an "undeliverable" sending my cancellation notice back to me.
My, my... The look on his face Monday morning when he realizes that he can't cash my check! (ha, ha)
A BIG THANK YOU TO THE NORTH CAROLINA LOCAL GOVERNMENT CREDIT UNION... Only $8 to stop the payment. The $8 was well worth the "Bug Off" sign the kid put on my door to prevent further sales. Too bad T. Draper... You should look for another line of business!
