Would-be personal trainers beware! This health club offers alleged personal training certification that is a rip off!

This little-know fitness franchise advertises for PERSONAL TRAINERS on Craigslist. Unfortunately, many red flags wave violently in your face when you apply for this position. For starters, they are on the complaint in flying colors. When you interview, you will be asked to take a required 'crash course' consisting of only a weekend's training, for the price of $349. Voila, you are now a personal trainer! This is not possible... Personal training requires serious time and study, and a difficult test. Another glaring problem is, the cert offered by Lady of America, the unknown NCEP, is unheard of by the NCCA. NCEP has a website, but so do alot of other scammers.

The NCCA is the absolute rule to follow when taking a personal training certification course. The NCCA does not recognize this "NCEP" cert, period, in its accredited or even its unaccredited certification programs. It does not appear in their list of certs at all.in essence, NCEP is an 'in-house' cert only recognized by Lady of America Fitness, rendering it WORTHLESS. Their aim is to fill a room full of gullible women and extract $349 from each of them. No job is guaranteed. You are on standby, working as a 1099 independent contractor, with no clients, in their tiny little club. That is, if they hire you. They charge your client $50 an hour but you get $18 of this. And there is no guarantee that you will get clients. There is a pecking order of how clients are distributed by the club manager, and of course, this will be a difficult situation. That is, if they hire you. You will take the course and probably be hung out to dry, waiting for a position to open, somewhere in one of their clubs. I was told that they are 'fixing' to open more clubs, and that the club I interviewed in had no openings. The whole thing stank of bait and switch. Just a scam to get women who are not even in shape themselves to plunk down $349 to become an instant personal trainer with a worthless certification! The 'trainers' I saw there were, ummm, God forgive me, very unattractive and not in such hot shape that I'd take them seriously to pay $50 for an hour of their two day's worth of NCEP training. NCEP I think stands for National Club of Exercise Professionals, check out the website. Bogus.

The man who interviewed me was vague and evasive and became distinctly uncomfortable, raising his voice, when I began to ask some very pointed questions. THE ONLY CERT TO CONSIDER REALLY IS NASM, the NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPORTS MEDICINE accredited certification!!! It is expensive and takes months to complete and is the #1 personal training cert and is accepted everywhere but evefry great fitness club! Stay away from Lady of America and their dubious trainers!
