Rihno Kerby West Kerby's high pressure sales pitch causes woman to go into debt!

My husband Mike got a phone call from a carpet cleaning service one day and they offered to clean two or three rooms for us at no cost. Unfortunately, Mike fell for it and he set up a time to have them come to the house to clean the carpets. But, they weren't coming to clean my carpets; they were coming to clean out my bank account, and they were coming to unload a very expensive yet inferior piece of equipment on two unsuspecting marks.
I'd just put in a 20 hour workday - I was working two job sat the time just to make ends meet. I was so tired that the last thing I needed was three high pressure sales people at my house when I got home, but there they were - not one but three salesmen at my home trying to sell me a vacuum that cost more than my car.
The sad truth is I kept telling the sales persons' that my credit wasn't any good and that I really couldn't afford to buy a vacuum that cost so much. They kept on pressing, and before I knew it - they found a bank that would finance the payments for me. Yep, they got me - I bought a $2100.00 vacuum (actual price after finance charges and annual percentage rate totaled $2486.00) and here I was working two jobs at $8.00 per hour.
It's true they got me, but what happened next is when I realized just how badly I was ripped off by the Kerby Co. As I stated earlier I worked long hard hours and it was about three days after I bought the vacuum that I finally got to use it. Oh my goodness! What a hassle that thing is. First of all it's so heavy that a senior citizen (such as myself) has a hard time just getting it out of the closet. I finally did get it out of the closet and then I tried to use it just to vacuum at first. Everything is in pieces - you have to hook up all these different attachments - which are all loosely stored in a cheap holder. It's a pain in the &. But the real problem is the shampooer. It is worthless. I guess if you lived in a new house with new carpet and everyone took off their shoes before coming in the house it would be peachy. I have two dogs and live in a very old double wide.
Anyway, I called the Kerby Co. The next day and I was in tears. I just wanted out of this deal and I told them how much I hated the vacuum - how much trouble it was for me to use it and how it just wasn't efficient. Their solution to my problem was for me to watch the dvd that came with it! I told the person that I was 55 years old and that I'd been vacuuming floors for the greater part of my life. I saw no need to watch a dvd on how to use vacuum! The person then suggested that he send out another one of their experts to show me how to use it. I was really crying now - apparently if you don't cancel your purchases in exactly three days your stuck with a worthless yet very expensive vacuum. I called on the morning of the fourth day.
I don't know if this is a legal matter, but it is a moral issue. The Kerby name once stood for quality and satisfaction.in the famed "Devils Dictionary, " Ambrose Bierce defined a corporation as "an ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility."
