My first bill from AMS reflected a $30.00 application fee which I did not authorize, AMS states was in my lease; my lease just states I agree to the management company's choice of billing service.
My second bill is for $41.46 a one bedroom, one bath apartment, one person occupant which is the same amount of my fathers bill for a 2 bedroom, 2bath, 3 occupants, a washer& dryer and a pool.
When I mentioned this to AMS, I was informed the county charges tenant fees and that my bill was only $15.00, but with the tenant fees the amount adds up to $41.46. I contacted Sarasota ulitilies; was informed the county does not charge any tenant fees, that those hidden fees were being charged b either AMS or my management company or both. I asked if there was a consumer protection number to call for complaints but they did not have a number.
Is there no state or government agency that can look into this matter? They are ripping off consumers.
