I ordered a trial offer of Dazzle White. It is a tooth whitener product that comes in a "pen" form with a little brush at the end, and whitener gel is pumped through to the brush by twisting one end. The one I received did not work. I thought it was a bad start, so I decided to cancel the program.
My first attempt to do so was via DW's chat line. All the chat rep would do is offer to send me "at no charge to [me]" a replacement trial. When I declined and said all I wanted to do was cancel, she said I would have to send back the package - at my expense! When I said I was not returning an empty or non-working product at my expense, she then said I would have to call the company to cancel. Blood pressure rising like a stoked open hearth oven.
Phoned the company and cancelled. They would not budge off the you-have-to-return-it-and-pay-the-postage stance. I went ahead and did so, thinking I would file a BBB and FCC complaint afterwards.
Today, I got a notification from my bank (Wells Fargo) that a suspicious international charge had hit my account, and was I aware of it? I was not. It was described very cryptically as "weightloss8" out of Gibraltor IS (Israel?) for $7.14. The charge was stopped, and I could not figure out how this could happen. Then I remembered SOMETHING in passing as I signed up for Dazzle White about a weight loss product. I thought, you've got to be kidding me.
I started about a 3-hour Google search that led nowhere. I finally went to the Dazzle White site and spent about 30 minutes with their chat representative. I asked if they had any association with a weight loss group. The answer was yes — a company called Comprehensive Weight Loss eBook package. She then also told me that when I signed up to try Dazzle White, I had also automatically signed up for this product — AND another called Insider Secrets Tips! She then said that while I had cancelled my Dazzle White program, these each had to be cancelled separately.
* IN FAIRNESS * There is a "Satisfaction Guarantee" picture that goes by when you sign up for Dazzle White that DOES tell you that you are also signing up for these other products, so BUYER BEWARE — you are about to be screwed and it won't even feel good.
OK, back to my story. I ask the chat person of this diet PRODUCT is called weightloss8 or anything like that (as had appeared on my bank card payment call), and she did not answer. I also asked where this company was located — this Comprehensive Weight Loss company — and was told Las Vegas. I asked if they ever shipped out of Israel — specifically Gibraltor — and was told I'd have to phone them directly, that Dazzle White had nothing to do with them directly, but that all she knew was that they were located in Las Vegas. Hmmmm...
So I re-read the Satisfaction Guarantee notice, and I look again at my notice from Wells Fargo about the charge out of Israel, and guess what? BOTH QUOTE A COST OF $7.14 A MONTH (Wells Fargo had told me the charge was recurring). So I am guessing that whatever they ship (I've never received anything) is being produced in Israel — and maybe many other places — who knows?
So I phoned the cancellation line, ready to speak my mind and then quit their "program". I get a recording that goes through the whole Boy you really don't want to do this spiel, then proceeds to tell me the office is closed till Monday! ARGH!
So I will phone Comprehensive Weight Loss eBook and I will phone Insider Secrets Tips (who I've also never received anything from) and cancel — and if I have ANY problem with either, I will report it here.
There are a lot easier ways to get whiter teeth, gang. Avoid these guys like the plague!!
