American Home Shield RIPOFF, UNHELPFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, and RUDE, Total Lack of Customer Service!

July 5th - I contacted AHS for service.

July 6th - A local company (Air Command), came out collect their co-pay, supposedly diagnosed the problem to unit being low on Freon. The technician added Freon and left.

July 6h We noticed the problem still persist, so we contacted AHS

July 7th Air command sends another rude technician, and this time the problem was diagnosed to be a bad condenser fan, the technician is supposed to file a report with AHS the same day to get authorization, but the problem is not files for another 2 days. Meanwhile numerous phone calls to AHS and Air command, each time spend hours on the phone with UNHELPFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, and RUDE without any regards that the temp is 110 degrees and I have children at home. That is if they don't hang up on you, which they did.

July 9th Air command sends another technician and he diagnose the problem to be a compressor, but he wants additional $200 to remove to dispose the old compressor and AHS does not cover this, and he files a false report with AHS that there is no clearance and he has to move the condenser to replace the compressor. The cost of moving the condenser is $800, which off course AHS does cover. I called an independent AC company they indicated that the disposal fee should not be no more than $5 for draining and disposing the oil. Additionally, they said there is no need to move the condenser to replace the compressor.

July 10th through July 17th I kept calling back the AHS and plead with them for alternatives to this local company which is trying to rip me off but AHS has failed to be helpful, assigned a different local company, or discuss the reason for the bogus charges with the local company. The best solution they could come up with is to wait for a phone call from another department to see how much they can refund me if I personally pay another company to fix the problem. Meanwhile they continue to collect the monthly premium.

From what I read on similar report files by others, it seems this is their regular practices to get you frustrated so you'll stop calling them. I have filed a complaint with BBB against both AHS and the local company, and I'm planning to call my state Attorney General to file a complaint against them.

Imaging average temperature of over 110 degrees, no air for more than 2 weeks and no resolution insight. I don't think I'll renew my contract with AHS any more.
Fred
