A friend of mine has a few horses. One particularly, a 3 yr. Old belgian / saddlebred cross. Needless to say not a very good combination. She is a very lanky and skinny horse. (due to her breeding). Everyone had noticed how skinny she looked. The owner worms her horses correctly and they had the vet there on numerous ocassions. She was adviced by the vet how to put weight on her skinny horse. I myself have a belgian cross. I must say my horse took a few years to fill out to the beautiful horse she is today. I lucked out she is an easy keeper, some horses are not. Let me get back to the subect.
Pocono Animal Rescue came to my friends home a few months ago threatening to take the horses away. When she herself, had the ASPCA come take a look at her horses, they did agree the horse was a little thin, but knew the owner was trying her darnnest to fatten up the horse.
On Tuesday July 14 they came to the premises to talk to my friend, but she was busy and didn't speak to them. They spoke to someone else who relayed the mesage that they would be back with a warrant and State Police.
The following day while my friend was home alone. They go to her house served her the warrant with 6-8 State Troopers with them, Search and confiscated the weapons from the house. And told her they were taking her horses. Not just the skinny one all of them. When she offered them the paper work to proove she doesn't neglect her horses. She was told thst's what they were there for yesterday, know there taking the animals. After a lengthy chase around the field they had all the horses loaded up. During this three ring circus the State police told her, she couldn't receive or make any phone calls. And left standing in the trailers rearing and in total distress because they haven't trailered often, plus they seperated them from their pasture buddies. This made the horses very upset. To make a long story short they took all of her horses. Four fat and 1 skinny. Then they proceeded to ask for the paperwork, receits from the vet, hay and grain bills. During this three ring circus the State police told her, she couldn't receive or make any phone. Did not find her in violation of anything. If you ask me this women was doing this for no other reason, but to upset my friend and prove she has the power to take her horses away if she wants too. I do believe she had no right taking any of her horses. Between the ASPCA and the vet being aware of the problem. Plus all the information she had records of, her horses were getting well taken care of. These horses should not of been subjected to that amount of stress. I hope the individuals who made these complaints against her realize, not every horse lover knows everthing about horses, you learn as you go. Everyone doesn't have a big beautiful barn and perfect horses. So, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge.
