DishOne Media
Deceptive Sales person

Let us share our recent Dish Network experience. We have been considering changing from Comcast for about 6 months and had been carefully checking out offers and prices over that time. We were leaning towards Direct TV (and wished we had now) but had a friend who had worked for Dish Network who encouraged us to go with them.

On the 26th June a DishOne Media (DishOne Media 96 N 1800 W Ste 18 Lindon UT 84042 Tel 801 705 5353 877 207 3474) representative: Paul Little 731 607 8279; 801 336 8363 came by our neighborhood promoting Dish Network and Direct TV.

We were skeptical and so he spent an hour with convincing us of Dish Network over Direct TV.

The first thing we did was compare prices. We told Paul that the issue was SPEED TV include in the Comcast line up but in a higher price tier than we wanted. We had just purchased a LCD HD TV and wanted HD as well.

He explained that Dish Network had a great deal running and that we would pay only $62.99 per month for 2 years and that for the first 6 months we would pay only $37.00. We asked over 3 times whether this was the all inclusive cost. What about Taxes, fees and charges which we have on our Comcast account? His response was, and we want to make this very clear: WHATEVER I WRITE ON THIS AGREEMENT (Claim ID #13802342) IN THE TOTAL PRICE QUOTE WILL BE WHAT YOU PAY This was $37.99 in the promotional price for 6 months and $62.99 for the regular price.

Our first Dish Network account we received did not reflect this at all NOT even close. After calling customer service we had the account reduced and a different promotional price given and although better it does not reflect the agreement that Paul made or what he restated many times over.

There are receiver fees, HD fees, taxes, charges etc that Paul assured us we would not have. $37.99 was ALL we would pay for the first 6 months and then 62.99 for the next 18 months. The regular price will be closer to $77 a month! $14 a month more than quoted and $19 a month more than Comcast.

We were still not sure he then told us that a $300 Fuel Card (which he had a copy of the request form for) would be ours if signed up. We asked whether this was a serious offer. Paul explained that we would receive a Debit card that had $25 on it and then we would register with a particular fuel station and then the Debit Card would be topped up to $300 and we could use it at the fuel station whenever we wanted. A bold faced lie. When we received the fuel rebate offer in the mail from DishOne Media it is totally useless to us we have to spend at least $100 a month in fuel, which we never spend and have to meet a whole lot of requirements and pay an activation fee as well. It was also for $500!

We were also concerned about Dish installation because we had seen so many installations with wire running all along the outside of the house which we didn't want. Paul explained that it would be professionally installed and connect to our existing cable wiring.

The installer came and the first thing he apologized for was veryy messy van with satellite boxes just thrown in the back and cabling and fittings were everywhere. He began the installation at the front of the house and drilled 7 holes into the house and installed the Dish only to discover that the satellite signal was blocked by the neighbor's trees. He began swearing with my 7 year old present that I then had to send inside.

Of course he then had to move the dish to another part of the house which would mean cabling on the outside of the house. I removed our downspout and had him install the cabling behind it (so it wouldn't be obvious) and then run the cable below the siding on the foundation but he had no concrete fixing fittings so he left the cable lying on the ground. He also ran out of the dual cable and so had to split the cable half way along. He did not ground the cable or tie it to existing fittings. When connecting inside he left a ceiling tile out in our basement, left all the packaging over the floor, did not set up one TV correctly and was about to leave without repairing the 7 holes in our house. I made him return to repair those which he did a really poor job of.

We called DishOne Media customer service but they refused to be helpful or send someone out to finish or repair the work immediately. We then called Dish Network customer service that sent someone out the next day and it was repaired in a very professional manner.

We have called DishOne Media repeatedly and asked to be called back but they have refused to do so at this stage. My wife spoke to a DishOne Media representative Lacey but she couldn't resolve any issue but assured her someone would call us back. They haven't and we can only leave a call back number on their Customer Service line.

We then checked DishOne Media out on the internet:
http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/television-cable-catv-and-satellite/dish-one-in-lindon-ut-22008978

They have 71 BBB complaints against them. I wish we had looked them up first.

Why would Dish Network allow a retailer with such a poor history to represent them? Dish Network must bear some responsibility for the situation we find ourselves in and for the costs we now incur because of the deceptive business practices that DishOne Media employ.
