I fell victim to the Walsh brothers back in 2000 when I rented property from them. This has nothing to do with their business as a tree service but I want to get the word out about these scumbags so they can be avoided.
It all started when I rented the white house adjacent to their business office if you could call it that, its more like a barn. Located on Carmen ave. It was an old run down place but as a college student who is interning and living far from home, I had no choice.
Jerry Walsh agreed on 1600 per month that was to be split between myself and 2 other roommates and we signed a standard staples style lease in that regard. One months rent and a security deposit were required at that time.
After my internship was over I found someone to take my place and take over the remainder of my lease, and asked Jerry Walsh about getting back my security deposit. He was too busy too look over the house before I was to leave, but assured me he had my address and would be sending it as soon as he could.
As I was about to leave to move back to my college for my final semester my car died in the driveway to the apartment. After a quick examination It was determined that I had blown a heard gasket and that the cost of the fix would be more than the car was worth so I was going to junk the car. Not having time to wait for a tow truck I signed the title over to my roommate and he said he would junk the car next week, which would give him an extra 50$ too.
About a week went by and Called Jerry Walsh to find out the status of my 533$ in security deposit. He said that because my car was still there he was not going to be able to give me the deposit back. I explained that the car was not mine and that my roommate had taken ownership of it and he could have it towed if need be, but I no longer had control of the vehicle.
Mr. Walsh said fine and seemed to agree with what I had said. After calling the roommates and having the car, which at this point was not legally mine, moved to the neighbors driveway. 2 weeks went by and I again called Jerry Walsh and he said the car was still on his property, he also owned the house and driveway next door and I would not be getting my deposit. Again I stressed I didn't own the car anymore, but he wasn't cooperative.
That was the last time I directly spoke with Jerry Walsh. Repeated attempts to speak with him always resulted with him being out of the office or answered by his service. I tried to report him to the BBB, but they don't accept landlord/tenant disputes. Finally I have found this site and maybe someone will be educated to the shadiness of this individual.
Imp sure his landscaping company is also corrupt as he uses property zoned residential to store and operate all of his heavy machinery and most of his workforce is compiled of illegal immigrants.
