I contacted Steve White from American Credit about the possibility of removing one derogatory account from our (my husband and I) credit report. I told him that we were trying to obtain a business loan and the late fee on shown on the credit report was affecting us. He indicated that it would not be a problem, that since it was only one item it would take only one or two months at the most to remove the item. He charged us $850 to for the work. I signed the contract and sent it in.
After five months had passed, the item had not been removed — and was never removed. The only things they were able to remove were old tradelines that were closed and paid off as agreed. When I finally realized that what I had signed up for was not going to happen, I contacted Steve and asked him to cancel everything and reimburse me for the money I had paid. I was asking for a partial reimbursement because I understand that they actually tried, but the response I got from him and his co-worker Luis Canas, was that they could not reimburse me anything because the processing fee is $225 and they charge $150 for each item corrected or deleted. And, of course, since they removed 5 old accounts I was not entitled to any refund.
I talked to Steve several times about this and about how clear I was from the beginning when I told him there was only ONE item I needed to have removed, but nothing worked and kept all my money.
