Ok, tell me if this seems odd to you. I got an email from a Kristen Harris, Regional Hiring Manager from a company named Speherion. She told me that my resume was "very impressive" and that "that out of the several hundred resumes that we received, yours stands out the most."
This seemed odd to me because I have NEVER been told this by a company. She went on to tell me that they paid a higher wage and that I would enjoy working for them (this really seemed odd because I never remembered applying to this company.)
They wanted to interview me, but here was the kicker, they went on to say this:
"Take note that we require all potential employees have a credit report on hand during the interview, since we take everything into review when employing anyone. We only ask for a credit report because we want to make sure you haven't had any past employment issues with our company or affiliated."
I have NEVER been asked for my credit report to qualify me for a job interview. Then they told me I could use the credit reporting company THEY used and that "the positive part of the company we use is that the credit report is given free of charge, unlike many other credit reporting companies that charge a fee. A FREE credit report? Yeah, right!
I have a service I use that rates links and website and the link they gave me came up in RED (meaning untrustworthy.) So I decided to email "Kristen." I told her that I had never heard of a company requiring you to have a credit report to get a job interview. I also looked up this company. It is legit, but is a placement agency.
I just got a reply from Kristen, but it was the same email I received earlier today (letting me know that this email was just a bot.)
So... Stay clear of this placement agency as I feel it uses truly deceitful tactics to lure those needing work into a false sense of security.

Compared to previous hiring's we've done in the past, we are paying the highest starting hourly/salary wage for new employees, so I'm sure you will have a fantastic time working with us. We would like to schedule an interview with you. You may either use your own accredited credit report company, or use one that we have previously used countless of times.
