I just left Lowes when this guy in a gray Mariner approached me. I though he needed directions.
He starts talking italian. He asks me if I speak Italian or Spanish. I speak English and Spanish. He saids not to speak to him in English. He asked if he could show me something. He said he just came from the IV Mall and had some left over clothing from a presenation. He said he is from italy. He shows me this brown suede jacket. He said he dont need it,
He says he is on his way to the airport and that he will have to take these pay taxes on these items so he rather give them away to a "friend" to avoid paying taxes on it.
He said it was worth $1100 or 1400.
He showed him his rental his Italian passport and flight papers to show he was telling the truth. He then saids he wants to give me these 3 coats for free. But can I help him by buying one coat from him. The guy showed me the tags and takes a a lighter to it to show it was real if it didnt burn.
I fell to tactic even though I do not need a coat here. I gave him $400.00. He followed me to the bank to get the money. Then he tried to offer me more jackets if I could help him with more $.
Guy is about 30 years old, slim, italian (or foreign accent), wore skinny dress pants and short sleeve shirt (blue) with white bands. Very modern looking. He drove a silver or gray Mariner SUV type vehicle. This about about 11:00 A.M.in El Centro CA 92243 in the Lowe's parking lot. License plate was something like 6CBU620.
Although my money is lost, I will stop by the police station to report this.
