Wanted to let you guys all know I had a very bad experience with the so called "single use paypal card." It is supposed to be like buying a pre-paid credit card and used only once, however "if" companies get a hold of the number it is good for 18 mnths. Companies I had never heard of began charging on it & since my bank account was the backup resource for paypal... They debited my account to cover them.
My bank looked into it and took all the money back and also credited my acct. Because they charged until it was overdrawn and I had service fees. Paypal took "some" credits, but left me w/$66.00 to pay stating I received a product for 2 charges and would have to pay for them. I did get a 38.00 10 oz. Bag of coffee, but sent it back unopened and marked - Did not order-return to sender, as instructed to do. 2 of the companies are passport to fun and Home Savings Mall. I found the 1st one on this site already. They have had lots. Lots of complaints.
Paypal will not honor my dispute on the charge even though the bank did. Just wanted to let all my friends know what happened so they can avoid the same situation. I am going to the bank today to change my account. I only use that 1 for my ebay stuff and Billy to put money in when Jordi "has to have" something. You know like a video game or something.
Well to finish, you are not allowed to remove your bank acct or close your acct. Or anything w/paypal once it has a credit balance. The companies were still trying to charge to my account for several months, but my bank declined the charges even though PAYPAL was still trying to let them charge after I reported them as fraudulent. Only assurance is 2 close bank account.
Just perturbed and wanted to vent... I also told Paypal I was going to tell everyone I know about this. It is the least I can do.
Oh and by the way. All the companies had to do was charge & money was taken out of my account. I HAD TO to go thru mountains to even prove who I am and it was my account and the charges were bogus. I mean like respond by entering a code they mailed me to verify my address, verify2 small deposits they put in my account to show it was my account, fill outa form telling about any products received and what I did with them etc... Etc... Etc... All after I had faxed them in from the 1st day I noticed the charges and all that info was on both the complaint, the e-mails, the affidavit they required and all other correspondence. All this was requested ONE step at a time which further prolonged the issue.By the time they make a decision, I don't even remember the details unless I look at my e-mails etc. I just had3 surgeries and was trying to recover from them and do NOT have time for this ridiculous stuff. Like, why would I want to fix someone else account. Now... Note the 1sttime we ever used PayPal my husband used a card from work and had the secretary do it so we could never remove her name form the account. It was never a problem before, but now became a huge issue. It is BULL!
It would have been the same if it were $66,000
instead of $66.00. There is not a limit on the cards that I am aware of. I would beware of paypal plug in secure card. Because of the way this has been handled I also do not intend to use PayPal again.
