I was contacted by my department clerk, that our human resources department had transferred her a call for me. The person calling (which turned out to be a guy stating his name was JW Lomax), and he requested to talk to me. She proceeded to ask him in what regards would this be concerning? After a short run around by him, he told her it was an emergency situation regarding my son (which he new by first & last name). She contacted me by my office phone, which i wasn't there, so she contacted me by my cell phone & telling me of an emergency phone call concerning my son. I immediately dropped what i was doing and run up to her office.
In answering the phone and being prompt'd by a representative from a so called Law Firm named Allen&Lewis, he introduced himself as JW LOMAX. He proceeded to tell me of several "injunctions & criminal charges" i had facing me and if i didn't pay the total amount of over $300.00 to his firm that was representing (Mel Owen Music), i would be facing an embarassing situation when the proper authorities wer summoned to my place of employment at 2:00 pm and i would be placed under arrest for these so called "injunctions/criminal charges". I had very mixed emotions while all of this was happening in being relieved that my son was ok, being pissed off that he had mentioned it being an emergency situation concerning my 13 yr. Old son in an attempt to collect a bogus debt, contactin me at my place of employment when all of my information is listed with Mel Owen Music (whom they were attempting to collect this bogus debt).
I proceeded to tell Mr. Lomax of what i thought about him and his "un-professionalism" and i would be in contact with either him or Mel Owen Music. (I personally returned my sons trumpet and never received anything from Mel Owen Music, a certified letter, email, phone calls, etc...)! I contacted our band director at his work during school to let him know of the situation, he assured me that everything was ok and had to be a misunderstanding and he would call Allen & Lewis personally.
I then called our local sheriffs office and reported the incident. Later that afternoon the band director called me back and stated he contacted Allen & Lewis and spoke directly with a supervisor, Shawn Archer, whom immediately apologized for JW LOMAX's overall attitude an un-professionalism, but he could not discuss my personal information with him. I contacted Shawn Archer later, whom again apologized for the situation, but immediately attempted to collect the so called debt again. Only this time, he stated in an effort to compensate for his firms actions that i would only have to pay for half of the so called debt, $150.00, LOL! I again told him of a mistake made by someone along the way and that i did not owe anything, i had upheld my contract, etc... And that Mel Owen Music had made no effort in contacting me to collect any pro-rated charges. You could tell by his voice that i had him "rattled" & he proceeded to apologize, was going to contact Mel Owen Music and was not going to pursue this matter.
In the end this so called Law Firm/Collection Agency is breaking several Laws, and scaring the "heck" out of people when they state it's an emergency situation concerning their children. People please beware of allen, lewis and associates!!!
