My husband and I were turned down at numerous dealerships, so we went to JD Byrider hoping to get approved. We were approved.
When we asked if we could wait 24 hours before closing the deal so that we could talk to our parents (both sides) about such a large purchase, pressure was immediately put on us to close the deal that night. We were told that only one underwriter was willing to close our deal, and he would not be working the next day. We ignored them, and talked with our families the next day.
Even though some of our family members thought we were getting a bad deal, we signed the papers anyway. Our interest rate was 21%, and we had to promise to sign over part of our tax return to CNAC. My mother in law then presented me with paperwork from Kelly Blue Book showing me that our van was worth $3,000 less than what we purchased it for.
When we tried to consolidate our loan we found out that we were in an "upside-down loan". (That means that we owed more than what our vehicle was worth.)
Not only were we bamboozled on our financing, but our van has had many major mechanical problems. The inspection that JD Byrider claims they perform on vehicles obviously does not occur. When we asked if we could take the van to a mechanic who is a family friend, we were told that there was no need to do that, and that their insurance did not cover our request.
DO NOT purchase from JD Byrider. That company is not your only option, and DO NOT believe them when they tell you that they are your only option.
