I responded to a posting on Craig's List in order to get more information about their mystery shopping program. Received an email asking for my name, etc - I figured they were going to follow up with more information.
I received no response until today when UPS delivered 3 money orders in the amount of $925.17 each. An hour later, I received an email explaining that they were funds to test out Western Union (ironically the money orders were from Money Gram initially).
I was supposed to send the money to Nigeria and keep the rest as "salary" for me. The money orders looked legitimate but the ink that changes color did not work and there was no "micro text" of the amount.
The penalty for cashing false money orders falls on the person who cashes them (ie me) so I will absolutely not be taking these anywhere per the instructions.
