I purchased an Akai LCD w/DVD player in Oct.'08. It arrived broken - screen did not work, DVD player insides not there. Called eCost and they said no returns, no refunds - need to call Akai. After multiple calls to Akai and eCost - got authorization to ship the tv to Akai for repair. Paid to ship it - waited 6 weeks - TV was returned. Screen works, DVD does not, power cord falls out of bottom of LCD. I call Akai repairs - they say they no longer support that model and give me Akai USA website - which doesn't work. They gave me a phone # that does not work.
I actually got a call from Rona Perez with eCost customer complaints who one of my consumer reviews - she said that Akai would take care of everything - that I would hear from them. Well I didn't hear from them, I had to make multiple calls, and nothing was resolved.
My hope would be to get a refund. Next hope would be for a product that works.
I have submitted negative reviews about eCost on other consumer sites. I have posted warnings on tech blogs that recommend eCost for their low prices. I click on the Google Sponsored ads everytime I log on - just as a way to get back at eCost. I've got better things to do and can't believe I've spent so much time dealing with this.
