Secret rule/secret charges

I missed a payment, i went to the store witout a statement and paid a $30.00 payment, $10.00 more than i usaully pay. They sent me a statement that said theyr'e instituting a default rule and charging me $100.00 in charges so i cancelled the card, my bal was only$170.00
