In February I bought a 1997 Nissan Maxima from Car Credit America through Greenich Finance in Aurora IL on NewYork Ave. My daughter and ex-wife bought cars from there a couple years earlier and had issues with there cars but ignored the signals against the purchase of this Nissan.
It was rough going from the start. Even though I was making payments, they at Greenwich Finance called almost every week whether a payment was due or not. They did one repair on the car's brakes and that was ok, but the adventure had just begun.
In February, I went to make a payment at Car Credit America and it was no longer there. The place was empty all the cars were gone. I recieved a call from Greenwich Finance stating that I could make a payment over the phone which I did.
In March, I recieved letters and several phone calls from Greenwich Finance, Nationwide, and Niko Credit Services, all asking for a payment. I'd never heard of Niko Credit Services. I was told by a representative that Niko had bought Greenwich Finances' loans and that they and Car Credit went out of business. But I was still getting calls from Greenwich Finance and Nationwide.
I talked to Niko and said that I'm not paying anyone until I know who to pay since I was getting calls from 3 companies. At that time, Niko said they were part of Nationwide and I would get a payment book in the mail and at that time I can start making payments again. I did not get the book for over 3 weeks and I was still getting calls from Greenwich.
I recieved the book in late March and began making payments to Niko after recieving a letter stating that Niko Credit Services, a part of Nationwide had bought Greenwich Finance. Things did not improve.in fact, it got worse. Every call recieved from Niko begins with, "This is an effort to collect a debt and all information recieved will be used to collect this debt".
I recieve several calls every day from Niko Credit Service now. It doesn't matter that I make my payments, the calls come anyway. One day, I recieved a call right before I made a payment of $301.98. I asked the representative to PLEASE stop the calls since I made my payment. Sh esaid she would. Then I got 3 more calls later that afternoon asking for payment.
Now, my car is shot and will not pass emissions. Of course, they will not honor the warranty because thay said it is not covered. But that's not the worse thing. There's something worse than that.
I needed a car so I went to several dealerships and was told that there was no payment history for the Maxima and was asked did I buy it at a buy here/pay here lot. So I checked my credit report and no payments have been reported by Greenwich OR Niko! There is no history at all. The only proof I have is the receipts from Greenwich and my bank statements.
I did some research on this and found that this is not the normal procedure. So I called Niko and asked about this issue and was told, "It'll be taken care of". I asked how did this happen and was told the same thing with a lot more exasperation and a tad more aggrievation. I said that was not an answer and asked for the supervisor. She said she is the supervisor.
So I asked for the manager and she said she is the manager. I said wait! You just told me you are the supervisor. She responded with the supervisor and manager are the same thing. At this point, I was done. I asked who was over her and she said Lisa.
I tried to reach Lisa with no success, just the same answers. I asked for a record of all payments made by me. I' don't think this will be good.
