Complaint / Review
Campbell Law Firm P.A
Unfair practices, liars, fraud

I was inquiring regarding a loan modification and came across a website called Campbellsavesmy home.com. I did an inquiry online and I received a call from a counselor called Joshua Walker on 04/06 he said he was calling from Campbell's law firm and they are based in Tampa Florida his # is (813)-902-2505. I explained to Josh Walker the counselor what I would like done. He asked me if I was behind on my mortgage I told him no. He then told me to stop making my mortgage payments as this will help me get a modification. I also explained that I am not on the mortgage I am on the quick deed (TITLE) and my father is the only one on the mortgage, he then put me on hold and spoke to someone in the department I believe his name was Jim, Jim came on the telephone I explained to him what I told Mr. Walker I am not on the mortgage only on the deed and my father lives in NY and I pay the mortgage, my father purchased the home for myself and my family as our credit was not good enough for the mortgage and I have been paying the mortgage since 2006. Jim said he could work with me and I am approved for a loan modification.

Within the next few days Mr. Walker kept in contact with me and assured me this would be the only way to get a loan modification is if I stopped paying and we discussed the fees. The fee would be $1500.00 it's 100% refundable. He then told me I will have to go to the website Campbellsavesmyhome.com and print out the authorization form. I read the authorization form and had questions so I called the law firm and spoke to Josh Walker again, I told him I would like to view the contracts before I hand over my payment which would almost be equivalent to my mortgage payment. He told me the only way I can view the contracts is when I put up the retainer fee of $1500.00, I was at first hesitant but he assured me everything will be fine. I asked him why can't I view the contracts as well, he said Attorneys don't let their clients view a contract unless there's a retainer fee. So, I agreed wrote out a check in the amount of $1500.00. Then came the contracts on 04/10/09, So on Monday, 04/13 I was able to review the contracts once I reviewed it, there were many things that I did not agree with on the contract. I called Mr. Walker and told him I am not satisfied with the contract, I don't like the terms and this is not going to work for me I am just going to keep paying my mortgage. He told me to go over it again and sleep on it.

Well, I did as Mr. Walker said and I still did not feel comfortable in any of this. And I felt really uncomfortable not paying my mortgage, As I did not want to take a chance on loosing my home. I have done some research on the internet and read horror stories regarding home loan modifications and people still loosing their homes.

So the next day I called the office and told Mr. Walker I cannot go through with this and I don't want to put my family's life in jeopardy by taking a chance and loosing our home. I told him I have 2 kids an infant and an 11 year old. I would like my money back so I can pay for my mortgage before it goes on my father's credit report. I then asked Mr. Walker when can I get my money back he said to check the website, I checked the website there wasn't anything helpful for me I told him the website doesn't really say a lot. He said you have to send in the cancellation request via fax or mail. So I sent it by fax on 04/15. Then soon after I called Campbell's Law Firm to find out if they had received my fax for cancellation and the receptionist gave me a bad attitude and told me he did not know what I was talking about and could not understand me, All I asked him was I sent over a fax for cancellation and I wanted to confirm it was received. He simply did not understand my question we went on for about 5 minuntes. I finally had to explain myself very slowly and reiterated the entire process of how I sent a fax and of course he said he did not see a fax and the office was too big for him to go searching for it. So I faxed it again and called the office again spoke to someone else by the name of John and he said he's received 2 of the same faxes.

Now I am getting worried... I started calling and spoke to Josh and wanted to find out how long it will take to get my refund he said he does not know and they have never done a refund before, I was the first. Mr. Campbell will have to review it, I asked him what do you mean he says Mr. Campbell reviews all the refunds and will notify you in writing. I told him first of all you never told me any of this how could all of this happened I was lied to and now I don't even have my money to pay my mortgage, So now I am going to fall behind on my mortgage. Mr. Walker said you could try leaving a message for Mr Campbell to call you back, I left Mr. Campbell many messages and I have yet to receive a call.

I am starting to get worried and decided to contact the Florida Bar on 04/22 I spoke to the ACAP or someone to the effect of Mr. Billingham and explained to him what's going on and he said he was going to try to get in contact with Mr. Campbell. A few hours later Mr. Campbell called me @ 12:13pm via his cell phone. During our conversation I had him on speaker phone while my neighbor was present. I spoke to Mr. Campbell and explained to him what the situation was and he told me no one ever told him that I called. I told him I left numerous messages on your voicemail. He also told me he did not know who Josh Walker was he never heard of him. I told him he works with your firm. I told him I can send him the emails that I received from Mr. Walker and he supplied me with his email address and that same day I sent Mr. Campbell the emails from Josh Walker. Mr. Campbell said he was going to refund me my $1,500.00. I told him I can come and pick up the check he said he will get back to me in the evening that same day to let me know when I can come and pick up my refund. I waited for his call and he never called me. At 6:30pm the same day, I called Mr. Campbell and left him a voice message and told him I was waiting for your call please call me as soon as you can so I can get my refund in order to pay my mortgage. He never called.

called April 24th via cell no answer left messages on Mr. Campbells cell phone, office phone and with the receptionist Megan. She also stated he was in the office with a client and so I told her to please make sure he gets the message. Called back about 1 1/2 hour later and the receptionist Megan told me to hold on, she came back on the line and said he's unavailable.

On April 26th, I also sent Mr. Campbell an e-mail no response. On April 27th, contacted the Florida bar and spoke to Mr. Billingham, Explained to Mr. Bilingham what happened during the course of the days and I asked him if he can please contact Mr. Campbell to call me once again, and Mr. Campbell never called back.
