I have received two counterfeit checks in the last few months. Both were in the amount of 3,995.00 dollars and claimed to be employment oppertunities.
The claim is that you will evaluate the quality of the Western Union location where you send most of the amount of the check. So if you had deposited the check in your bank and run your first errand at a cost of 3600.00 dollars to you. Then you shop for another 95.00 dollars worth of stuff and your total losses are 3695.00 dollars because, although they recomend waiting two days for the check to clear, an out of state check takes longer, so the poor sucker who falls for this is not yet aware of the situation. Keep the envelope that the check came in and send it along with the check and printed material to the bank where the check is drawn from. (att. Fraud Dept.)
