Do not buy from hotbooksale.com; discountbooksale.com or smartsavingscenter.com.
My story is about the same as all the others. I bought a book for $4.33 and checked the $5.00 discount offer for first purchase not knowing that it was a bait and switch tactic and that they would be charging my credit card $29.95 plus $1.00 processing fee.
After I checked the $5.00 discount offer, I received an e-mail telling me I would be billed $29.95 as a membership fee good only through 2/24 - only seven days following my original order. THIS WAS NOT EXPLAINED PRIOR TO CHECKING THE DISCOUNT OFFER.
They did credit the $1, but refused to credit the membership charge. They claim I knew what it was for, yet there was no information about it with the $5 offer, nor was there any way to decline joining a club when ordering the book. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and hope everyone does that. These people are crooks and should be put out of business.
