I worked at Walmart, 10 mos. My annniversary date is near, and I would be getting full benefits. They have already been taking $100 a month out for my portion.
I got injured a week ago, reported it, I was in pain, they had me fill out an incident report, but warned me if I went home I would be written up and could be terminated.
I had 2 days off, my injury got bad. I called them to make out an accident report. They made me go take a drug test, then I on my own went back to see their Dr, as I don't have one yet.
Their Dr told me I had a bad muscle sprain, and muscle spasms in my back but he couldn't give me a note excusing me from work because Walmart was forcing him not to.
I worked in pain for a few days, then it got better. All the while I worked very hard for them, always volunteering to do more than required.
Last night they let me punch in, acted like everything was ok, then called me into the office and fired me for being injured. They said it was a safety issue.
I had lifted many heavy boxes that night which is required. The last one was shoulder heighth. I could normally get it, but it was heavy. There were no ladders available, and they said since I didn't use a ladder, it was a safety issue, and I was terminated. There aren't enough ladders for every aisle in the grocery dept, and they are always used by the workers lucky enough to get one.
They said the rule was never lift anything over your waist in height, without a ladder. That was never implemented, and doubtful it was told.in the backroom when we unload freight the pallets may be 6-7 ft tall, and no one is using a ladder to get them down. Everyone is always lifting over their head.
Other employees have been fired for bogus reasons lately too. People just about to get full benefits.
Wal Mart is a terrible place to work. Good job performance is never applauded. But they fire for unbelievable reasons.
