My father received an UNSOLICITED phone call from Liberty Land Sales and Service, perhaps also known as Liberty Property Co. On March 23. The synopsis is this: The first guy he spoke to talked so fast (Curtis Kelsey), and mentioned to my father that he HAD BUYERS for two lots in Estancia, NM, and that because of the Racino that was being moved from Albuquerque to Moriarty, his buyers were willing to pay an such-such amount (this is dry desert land, folks, the going rate is 1/2 that). Once they have you interested [[ the "hook" ]] they transferred him to another guy (Michael Soranno) who then says he would need my father's credit card to pay closing costs, etc.
When Dad asked why isn't this handled like a Real Estate transaction (you know, take the fees from the proceeds since they are doing the paperwork), he is told some story about how the processing of the paperwork goes...
WELL, needless to say, this seemed too good to be true, especially since the Racino is on hold for infrastructure, etc. Like water availability, and these guys were unable to keep up with Dad's well-informed questions to them. Dad hung up before being transferred to third person...
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you have to put money out first, under the guise of paying for 'processing', that's not the way real estate transactions work.
I looked them up, they are not even licensed any longer to do business in New Mexico. They used to be, but not anymore. They have a website, BUT THERE IS NOTHING ON IT!
