Unfair credit bureau report statement

My journey started approximately 3 weeks ago when I thought I would try to apply for credit at my bank (BMO) since I had been discharged from my bankruptcy for 6 months and I don't have a single blemish with them in the 5 years I've been with them. They informed me that I had an unpaid debt from 03/07 through a company called instaloans. This was news to me so I inquired with instaloans HQ in Edmonton. The person I spoke to, Cheryl, told me that it was probably a mistake and that she would have it reversed. She thinks that this was an old debt incurred back in 02' that should have been reported by my bankruptcy trustee but was not included. And by coincidence this is also the time that they sold their furniture side of the company when something may have happened during the transition. Well since this conversation Cheryl has been "shifted to a new department" and I have never been aloud to speak to her again. All my calls since have been shifted to someone named Jamie Morrison in the complaints department and I have been forbidden to speak to anyone at this company but him. Any attempt to talk to him has ended in the phrase"we have deemed this information to be factual and accurate". Then he refuses to talk to me any further. Since then I have been on a wirlwind tour to try and find out what and why this discreditation has been put on my report. As time has gone by I have contacted more people and numbers to list. No one will offer any information or cooperate with me as to this matter to the point that I requested Equifax to investigate this matter themselves. Their answer was the same as everyone else's;"the information has been proven to be factual and accurate" What does this mean? I have been making phone calls up to 12 hrs a day and this is all I can retrieve. Here are the facts: *I have repeatedly asked for some sort of proof that the debt even occurred let alone by me. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing in March of 07'. No one will supply me with any evidence of location, date, or signature of contract yet everyone I talk to says that this event has occurred and refuse to take it off my credit record or deal with me any further. *I have been repeatedly told that I had included this debt in my bankruptcy yet I don't see how considering this apparently was included in 07' when I went bankrupt in02'. Nothing seems to add up. *Now to top it off, my request for Equfax to investigate has concluded there investigation with a two sentence answer stating the same"factual and accurate"statement and providing no proof that they even investigated let alone proof of my involvement. Then they go on to say that if I want more information to contact the very same company they were supposed to investigate. This is where the only person I'm aloud to speak to is Jame Morrison. *I contacted my bankruptcy trustee to see what he could do but his suggestion was to contact the RCMP. When I did this and wanted to report a possible fraud they refused to investigate because this is a civil matter. *I have done everything that I can possibly do (short of contacting the ombudsman) to either receive evidence of guilt or to get them to take this black mark off my credit report so I can get on with my life. As long as I have this "07' unpaid debt on my record I don't have a chance of getting credit for 5 or 6 years. Without this blemish I could possibly get started in a couple of years. This could make or break me as I am not in a position for anything even slightly catastrophic to happen to me money-wise. Would you please look into this matter further for me as I've done my best. Especially since they told me themselves that the debt was written off a long time ago, whoever was responsible.

Sincerely,

Patrick C Leaden
