Was sitting at pawnshop trying to get a small loan to get daughter birthday present cause her bday was the day b4 i got paid. Was going thru some junk mail while pawnbroker was looking at my merchandise. Opened a letter and a 4500usd check fell out. Read the letter says: Please to announce... I won second category of sweepstakes and lotterydraw held dec 1,08. Said i was entered into sweepstakes by using by debit card at walmart, walgreens, etc. Wanted me to put the check into my bank account and the write out a 2980 check to pay for taxes.
Anyway, called the bank in fl that the check was drwan on (which has no ties to scam and said that they were investigating as well) and the check is no good. What hurts me the most is that i have been poor all my life. I really thought that my prayers had been answered. The lady running this scam had the nerve to tell me that this was a blessing from God. How dare they putmy Gods name in something so hateful and mean. I would give anything to bring these people to justice. What i am thankful for is that i figured it out b4 ot was too late which is more than i can say from some. Luckily, i got this check late on fri afternoon so i wasnt abe to do anything they told me to do till monday, which gave me the weekend to think about it and research. Sad to say if i had gotten the letter during the week when the banks were open they would have got us too.
Thanks to rip off report i was able to find out b4 i done anything drastic. Tim phillips, promotional manager; jeremy akin, nova scotia, tax agent... Theive and liars. I hopesomeone, somehow these people get caught.
