It started with two young girls knocking on our door late one evening in the middle of a blizzard. They said they needed to meet people and work on communication for a project. My husband let them in to warm up, and this is where the scam started.
Out came the magazine subsciptions, and they beg you in order for them to earn 'points' for a trip they win.
They are very good at telling you the cost of the magazine and they are very good at not telling you the hidden costs until you have done the paperwork and go to pay them!
If you get these people knocking at your door - send them away. They will talk you into a magazine subscription for twice the price you can get it at, then add shipping and handling (which magazines do not do).
I fell into there trap and realized when they left they had all of my information wrong (these girls were not bright), so I will never even see a magazine.
I have faxed a cancellation through to the company several times (you apparently have 3 days to do this) and have left about 10 messages for them to call, and have emailed nearly everyday for the past 2 weeks. Do you think I have had a single response??? Of course not, and they cashed my check.
I will never be so stupid again to even let someone like this at my door get past 'hello'.
This company also has several other names under American Cash Awards.
So, please, if someone comes to your door selling magazine subsciptions tell them where to go or you will get screwed also.
