LexisNexis/Martindale Hubbell - don't bothe

I purchased the Martindale Hubbell directory on CD last year. The purchase was made online and was paid for by credit card. I had nothing but trouble even receiving my order which came over a month late, and only after daily phone calls and complaints and being lied to by LN employees about shipments that were never sent. It was so bad that the customer service supervisor issued me a partial refund (didn't come close to covering losses due to delay) since the delay had caused my company to miss a deadline which cost us in employee time and return in revenue.

Then I started receiving bills from LN, addressed to a “XXXX XXXXXXXX (name deleted for privacy of some person I don't know)” at my company. There is no such person associated with our company and I have advised LN to fix this info, but of course, their employees can’t seem to handle a simple matter such as that either. I called and advised that this bill had been paid, it was confirmed by the employee I spoke with and I was told that the account had been credited on January 12th and I would not receive any further invoices, but of course I received another invoice dated January 31, again addressed to XXXX XXXXXXXX. I again called and was advised I would receive no more invoices.

On top of not receiving the item purchased timely, and LN’s inability to handle simple bookkeeping, I was supposed to receive as part of my purchase, 3 updates to the CD. I never received an update, so I called about it. I was told on 3 separate occasions that it has been sent. When I finally demanded to be given a tracking number for the last alleged shipment, it was admitted that it had not been sent after all (again, caught in a lie) and promised it would be overnighted. Well, I rec’d this update the end of February – A DECEMBER UPDATE!!! So, lot of good that did.By the time I received the update, it’s nearly time to receive the next one – which I’m sure I will never receive. Not only does this cost huge amounts of manpower to constantly be on top of LN, but the mailouts we do, based on what is supposed to be current mailing information, are being returned to us, costing us in man hours, supplies and postage, only to have material returned undelivered.

Now I receive a NOTICE that my account is PAST DUE!!! Oh, and of course, it’s addressed to XXXX XXXXXXXX again! In man hours, supplies, postage, and sheer frustration, LN had cost me more than the sale price of the outdated CD I purchased and I wish I had never bought it.

I just cannot believe that LexisNexis is being run so incompetently. They should be ashamed of themselves! I'm sure Mr. Martindale is turning over in his grave.
