False Advertising - Wedding photographe

My husband and I hired Weddings by Tepper as our wedding photographers for June 28. We were sold on the fact that this was a husband/wife team who offered double the coverage and came from a family of photographers. The albums they showed us were professional and we felt extremely confident using them for our wedding.

After additional meetings with Tepper and filling out information forms upon her request, we felt that the type of pictures we were looking for had been expressed upfront. While we noticed that a lot of our pictures weren't posed during the wedding, we still had full confidence that our paid professional photographers knew what they were doing.

It wasn't until we received our online album on July 16th that I saw the extent of their work. Out of the 900 pictures, there were about 100 useable shots that would still need to be cropped or modified in some capacity. Crucial shots such as a first kiss, ring exchange, and the like were not captured, and what was captured was flat, dark, and far away. The "candid" images simply displayed people standing around, not capturing an emotion or purpose, and were no better than the pictures we received from our friend's Canon powershot.

After expressing my concerns to Tepper both over email and over the phone, we decided to meet in person on August 8th at a neutral place so that we could go over all of the pictures that I wanted fixed. After going through my list, I was then told by Tepper that she was only willing to fix the photos we were going to use in our album (which holds about 60 pictures), and not all of the pictures, as previously stated. When I again voiced my opinion to this, I was told that we were personally attacking her work and that we were the first customers in five years to ever complain. Tepper quickly became heated and antagonistic, so my husband and I felt that the best thing to do would be to walk away from that meeting.

After much discussion, my husband and I came up with what we thought was a fair and reasonable compromise. Since the final amount we owed Tepper was the same amount as the album with prints (as indicated by the contract), we decided to forgo the album, and sever ties, in exchange for simply receiving all of our images on CD. My husband and I would then go through the process of finding someone to fix our pictures, and create an album for us. This compromise was immediately rejected, and after receiving several more nasty emails from Tepper, we were told that in order to receive our pictures on CD, we not only had to create an album for her to build (though at this point she was now unwilling to crop or modify any pictures), but in addition, pay the final amount before even seeing it.

On August 27th, my husband and I did pay the final amount, in order to receive our pictures on CD. However, we are now stuck with an album of terrible pictures that are direct outputs from their camera, and will all need to be modified in some capacity.
