While in Turkey I purchased a capet from Gordes Carpet Company. The carpet was a vibrant red cashmere on wool carpet. While I paid for the carpet with my Capital One credit card, the merchant wrapped the carpet (not in front of me) and sent me on my way. When going thru security at the airport in Germany I had to open the package it was then that I realized the carpet was deliberately switched my Gordes I notified Capital One and was informed another charge the day I called was charged against my account by Gordes. I told Capital One not to honor the charges especially the second one because there was a switch on the carpet and I was not authorizing any charges due to the scam. Capital One said I had to call back in three days to dispute the second charge, why I don't know but they refused to listen to me. I tried calling back in three days but was put on hold several times for a total of thiry minutes. I was working and called back three days later and was told nothing could be done. After many letters, statement submitted by other travelers and an appraisal of the carpet Capital One refused to do anything. Gordes Carpet are cheats and Capital One backs the cheats not their customers.
