When I first went to work for RML, I thought it was great - until I started hearing rumors about the problems with paychecks. The office manager - Mona Harner - told me that I should never deposit my check in my bank account - I should always go to Mid Penn bank and cash my check as soon as it was given to me. Apparently there were a quite a few occasions that people had deposited the check and it bounced. I headed that warning and still heard horror stories. There were employees that were 2 or 3 pays behind (didn't receive any checks at all) and others that were standing in line at the bank only to be told that there was no more money in the account. I also was made to look like an idiot when I went to the bank to cash my check and the teller said that she was sorry but there was no money in the account! A $700 payroll check and there wasn't enough money!
A few months into my employment there, I also had the opportunity to witness to the General Managers (Holly Jury) sob story on pay day that there wasn't enough money for payroll and that we would all have to wait a few more days to get paid. But - Ivan Remple - the owner - had money to go on vacation and buy a new Mercades. How does that work? There are 20 people working for you and can't get paid but your on vacation?!?!
Not to mention the lies from the beginning. I was told that I would get a raise after 6 months - Never happened but there was no problem with giving me more work to do. They refused to pay you anymore than 40 hours a week - but threw a fit if you left after 8 hours and everything wasn't done. You are expected to stay for free.
When I finally had enough and I quit - Ivan refused to give me my last check. He expected me to come to his office and reconcile a postage account - on my time - when I wasn't employed there! When I refused - He said "F" you then, you aren't getting your check! When I called Labor and Industry and we had our hearing - he called the police and accused me of stealing $360 from one of his clients - amazingly - about the same amount as my check was for 40 hours! Of course, there was no merit to his accusations so the investigation was closed. He didn't show up to our hearing at the District Justices office and the appealed the decision against him. Now, 10 months later - I still don't have my last check, I have to wait for another court date in a higher court, and they added those wages onto my W2!!
And that's just the beginning of the story! I have since found out that the money that is withheld from your check to pay you local taxes, has never been turned in. The tax office has had to take him to court and they still have not received the money that is due to them - our money!
The "upper" management allows certain employees to help themselves to things that are warehoused there for clients and sell them for personal gain. DIRTY! They are scam artists! Stay away from there!!
