Phone would say searching for network when I was 30 or more miles from home promised 2 free months

The rep at the store told me that I had an unlimited plan (i.E. Long distance, texting, etc.) but when I traveled over 30 miles from Huntington I would not be able to make or receive calls. The phone would say "Searching for network...". I kept this service for 1 year which was the plan that I had.

About 3 weeks after I deactivated my plan and phone I received a call from "Casey Eldredge" in ntelos retention. She left a message stating that if I reactivated my account she would give me 2 months free and a new phone, also free. I told her that would be fine since I hadn't signed with another company yet. She told me to look for my new phone in about 2-3 days (shipped by UPS) and to call back when I received it to activate. That was on a Monday 2/16, so I waited until Thursday and no phone.

About 7 pm on Thursday 2/19 I called customer service and asked for Casey in retention. Of course they asked for the phone # I was calling about. I explained the situation and the man put me on hold to talk to Casey. When he came back on the phone he said she was busy and that she told him my phone would be here on Friday 2/20. It didn't arrive then either, so I called again.

The customer service lady who answered this time told me that the phone had not been sent and the account had not been activated. I asked to speak to Casey again and was told she was not there but that they would take care of it. I told them never mind and that they should tell retention to forget about reactivating this account. The snot-nosed little punk told me to tell them myself and put me on hold. I told the "lady." who answered that they had taken enough of my time and to forget about reactivating my service.

I used to work for Sprint and these tactics are used all the time. My fear is that they will disregard my refusal and reactivate the service and sign me to a 2 year plan that I do not want. You cannot get out of those plans. The government protects these liars and cheaters to the end. Sprint has so many lawsuits they will be in litigation until the year 2050.

If ntelos isn't careful they will be facing the same lawsuits. My husband and I use the $30.00 phones we buy at Wal Mart. They can be used anywhere, even in the country and there isn't a contract. I suggest we all start using them and put these people out of business if our government is unwilling to help us.
