The hinge for my laptop recently broke bcause of poor design. The problem should be easy to fix since it is obvious I just need a replacement for a small, inexpensive-looking metal part (about 1 square centimeter). When I called Dell 's spare parts department, I was told that they had the part, but they would not sell it separately.instead, they wanted me to buy a replacement for the entire back panel on the laptop for about $45. I think that Dell is just being greedy. Car companies don't make you buy a new engine if your spark plugs go bad, why should I have to buy an entire back panel just because one little piece of metal broke?
