02/18 I made a major mistake. I let myself get snookered into subscribing to Vonage for VOIP telephone service over my high-speed Internet connection. I was careful fully describe my network configuration and topography to the customer reps. They assured me that Vonage was compatible.in January I acquired a new moble phone provider so I called Vonage to cancel. From there it gets worse. Customer service became a prohibited concept.
Here is my e-mail to several parties at Vonage:
I called today to cancel my Vonage service.
The representative was totally incompetent and uncooperative.
Yesterday 02/18 my account was debited for $31.43 cents to cover Vonage service from 02/19 to 03/18. I was told Vonage could not and would not refund charges, or give me credit for this advance charge, toward the quote/unquote early termination extortion policy. This $31.43 represents a charge for service not yet rendered. I was then told that Vonage wanted to extort another $40.00 /- for early termination.
In January I was told I could not terminate my service prior to 02/19 because I had had Vonage less than a year. Today, 02/19, I was told I could not terminate my Vonage service prior to 02/19 because I had had it less than 2 years. Is this the way you avoid terminating service, always tell the victims of your deceitful that they have to wait one more year. On 02/19 will I be told I can not terminate my service prior to 02/18. Does this extortion never end?
You can rest assured that Vonage will forever be at, or near, the top of my list of things to recommend that people avoid in life. Vonage service has always been extremely unsatisfactory. The reliability has been, at best, poor. Vonage has never worked as advertised. Only after being suckered into establishing my account and spending weeks of e-mail and calls to tech support was I finally told 'Oh Vonage will not work for you'. Gee thanks.
Word of mouth advertisement can either help a company's market place reputation or be detrimental. You may rest assured that I will never have anything positive to say about Vonage; especially if you continue to refuse to allow me to terminate service without extorting extra fees and refusing to credit my account for prepaid service not yet rendered. Apparently at Vonage the customer can never be right. Customers are only exploitable victims.
