Good ole' Harvey Sloniker (and his brother Tye) ran several telemarketing companies in AZ, one was called "Corporate Industries" and he had several other companies that operated under different names-all were "boiler room" type, cold calling, telemarketing crap, one of their services was some type of "credit card protection" for $350-and guess what, consumers who paid for this never got anything-complete rip off. My former friend used to work for these clowns (at one boiler room off of Dobson and Southern Ave) and I could never understand how this could be legal, could not understand the legitimacy of this either, so I gave up asking her about it. She was making money selling it, so she wasn't really concerned about whether this was legitimate. Also, Harvey had quite the ego, and according this woman, was known to have a couple of inappropriate, well never mind. Well Mr. Sloniker and his brother were accused of ripping off tens of thousands of consumers with one of his companies, and his defense was they were on contract with a "merchant" and they were only working under contract for someone else, and since the merchant did not provide any product after the sale was done, it's the merchant's fault, not Mr. Sloniker's.
Well Harvey and his brother made the local paper and there was a nice big article on all the crimes they were charged with-to include several violations with the FCC, and their companies were shut down. Harvey was found guilty of dozens of counts of telemarketing fraud, and was sentenced to several years in a federal prison, where he is still now. His assets were frozen, numerous creditors filed suit against him and his wife, and I'm sure they filed for BK, just like everyone else who rips people off. And both he and his brother Tye are banned from doing or owning any telemarketing service for life. Thats what you get for being greedy - as long as the cash keeps rolling in, these companies don't care if it's honest or not. I honestly met Tye once or twice, seemed like a pretty nice guy who got caught up in his older brother's schemes. Not sure if he was sentenced to prison or not but I do know he was indicted on some of the same charges as his brother Harvey. I do know Harvey was considered the egotistical and pompous one.
Well Harvey, you reap what you sow...
